Arma Reforger 1.0 Release
Výroba hudby k prakticky neexistujícímu traileru je vždy nesnadný úkol. Je potřeba mít určitý plán, který se postupem času upravuje ve střihu, ale celkový scénář by se moc lišit neměl.
The first draft of the music was too symphonic, in a classic cinematic sense, so it took me a little longer to find a clear idea of how to make the music work in the best possible way. Some important musical elements, however, always seem to appear and reveal themselves naturally, without too much thinking. And when that happens on its own, it is a real joy. 🙂
In this case, the shift from a 6/8 rhythm, felt in two, to 3/4, felt in three, creates both a rhythmic and emotional surprise.
I had the pleasure of sharing the live recording of the music for the trailer of the first officially released version of Arma Reforger, which had previously been in early access, with my friend and colleague Kuba Kadečka, who recorded the drums at Faust Studio. The electric guitar was recorded at home by another longtime friend of mine and an excellent musician, Tomáš Pecka.
Arma Reforger: Health System
The music for the Health System Trailer was meant to be completely different from my other symphonic trailers. I spent a lot of time thinking about how to make use of the pre-arranged string quartet recording, in our case the wonderful Epoque Quartet, since other trailer music was also being recorded for the Environment Update, composed by Jan Dušek and orchestrated and arranged by my friend and colleague Jan Vašina.
For this project, I therefore tried recording all the material and effects myself using my own cello. Since I use a Zoom H2n for recording, it is possible to record directly in four channels. This gives much better options for mixing and adjusting the spatial image, especially for 5.1, which we did not use in the end. In my case, however, I used this stereo setup as a binaural effect.
Ylands Update 2.0
The music for Ylands was composed by Varhan Orchestrovič Bauer, and it should always be said first that his work is truly beautiful. I was asked to write the music for the Update 2.0 trailer. After a long discussion, we eventually agreed on a style in the spirit of Indiana Jones, while also incorporating Varhan’s theme.
The trailer also features a theme from Jaws, so fans of John Williams will have something to enjoy as well. 🙂
